Mark died tragically whilst at work as a site engineer when an excavator bucket hit him. I will never ever forgive the person who ended Mark's life and ruined the rest of ours. I hate him.and will never ever forgive him. We are all devastated and still finding it hard to take in, it seems impossible to believe that this could have happened to our wonderful son, brother and grandson. Mark is also a loved nephew and cousin and he became a very special uncle to Joshua Mark on the 19th August 2011. Since Mark died we have been inundated with hundreds of tributes and messages saying how popular, talented and loved he is by his colleagues and many many friends.
The digger driver was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on the 11th April 2013. For killing Mark, all he was given was seven months prison suspended for two years and two hundred community hours. He and the machine owners Kingsbury Plant Hire have to live with what they have done as we have to live every day without our beautiful and precious son. Mark lost his life that day and so did we.
Mark is kind, loving, caring, funny and generous, clever, beautiful inside and out and extremely hard working and the best son any parent could have wished for and we adore him. We are so lucky to have had him for 22 fantastic years but it wasn't long enough. He should still be here enjoying his life and having fun.
Mark was a talented player for a local football team Damsonwood Blues and is an avid Aston Villa supporter. Mark now has a memorial cup in his name and a five a side tournament will be played each year in his honour.
We will love and miss our wonderful son for the rest of our lives.
